National Winners

Once again. B.C. producers did extremely well in the Canadian Wine Championships in Windsor Ontario with the following superb gold medal award winning wines. They are:

Best Red Wine of the Year
Church and State Wines - "2006 Quintessential" $50

Best White Wine of the Year
Lang Vineyards - "2007 Riesling Farm Reserve" $20

Best Dessert Wine of the Year
Pentage Winery - "2007 Ice Wine" $55.45

Many other B.C. wines won in more specific categories such as Mission Hill for Chardonnay over $20, Joie Farm for unoaked Chardonnay, La Frenz for both the off dry Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc, Thornhaven Estates for their Gewurztraminer, Wild Goose Vineyards for Pinot Gris/Grigio, Grey Monk for Merlot under $25 and Burrowing Owl Estate for their Cabernet Sauvignon over $25. These results reflect the strength of the wine industry in British Columbia and we at B.C.FoodandWine congratulate the winners.
