Wine of the Week

I was going to sample a red this week but when my brother phoned to say he had caught a salmon (a rare feat for a guy whose nickname is ‘Fishless’) I changed my mind and went for a white. What better combination for a summer afternoon barbeque than straight-from-the-water Pacific Salmon accompanied by a zesty Okanagan white.

On the way to my brothers I stopped at the nearest beer and wine store and purchased a Sandhill Sauvignon Blanc for $17.95. It proved the perfect accompaniment for the salmon. Dry (code 0) and light the wine has a fruity flavour and mixed fruit and herb aroma. Sandhill, a Kelowna winery, recommends it with light salads, crumbled goat’s cheese, halibut and corn. By sheer coincidenve we had corn-on-the cob and Greek salad with our delicious fresh salmon.
